So how much is too much?
So we always say we love our children or family, friends etc..Therefore we do our best to protect them by all means. We want no harm to come onto them. Because we think that's whats best for them. They're fragile in a sence in our eyes. But are we not allowing them to spread their wings and fly?
We humans are social beings and we love to love and we love to hate. We think, we as adults know what's best for people. But then we're limiting others from being their true selves.
To think of it, are we really helping them or are we harming them?
My parents, they're very protective of me, even when starting high school. "Never go to the bathroom alone, or you'll be raped!"
Yep, that's exactly what I'm talking about, they said that. I looked at them with reality in my eyes and rolled them to the back of my head and all the way back to the front. Although my parents didn't see that..haha
So yes, I do feel like I'm held in captivity. I even have a parential unit here at school living in my apt. Okay...lets not get into that now..otherwise it'll be a huge and I mean HUGE rant..haha
But are we really protecting or causing more harm onto others for not letting them experience things or not letting them know the truth?
Morales, as we are young we tend to think more along the lines of "Take of my #1 first, then comes others", but then as we mature, we start doing things in this perspective. "I don't want to harm others, while it's going to harm me anyways." Why? We care too much about how others feel and we protect them while we're doing harm onto our selves. Now there's the thing gets to me. Why? Why do harm onto our selves while they will eventually learn the truth anyways?
Relationships: People tend to not let others know in fear of hurting them, while the person is already hurting. They just don't want to realize or make it happen because it's going to turn out ugly or whatever. But please, if one is hurting the second one has to be hurting too right? Or at least will notice. It's bound to come up sooner or later.
So when is it time to draw the lines between letting go of someone and letting them realize the truth? When we care too much and can't stand it and finally tell them the truth or stop protecting and still love/care for them and let them experience things on their own?
To me, here's where I draw the differences between love and care.
Caring, we're doing it to protect others, and we do it so much we also hurt our selves while hurting them.
Love, we let them experience things on their own no matter how painful it is and let them know the truth, but still be there in support. That's what real love is.
