getting flashbacks of my previous client... and what does that mean? not good!!~ this website project is off to a very very bad start... sent my proposal to my client... got a phone call from her a few hours later... saying I was too expensive... but I told her that I already gave her a discount... and she says, "I don't understand why it is so expensive, I already gave you all the images and information. You shouldn't have that much to do" **scratching my head** huh? but images doesn't make websites... well anyways, at the end of the phone conversation, I had to drop my price but it still sounded like she wasn't too happy...

so what did I do? I went right ahead and made 3 different layout options for her to see... cause I was guessing that she's confused as to what goes on for making websites... I was right... I get a phone call again in the evening... but I didn't answer it because I was having dinner... I later listened to my voice mail... she said my designs were poor and she accused me of something I didn't do... she claimed that I didn't look thru her cds of images and only copied images from her brochure... which I didn't... I actually copied all her images from the cds to my computer and I looked thru them carefully... and used what I thought was appropriate... a lot of the images on the CD are very similar to each other and the ones on her brochure, but I am sure it wasn't the same b/c I couldn't even find the images on the brochure...

and you know what's funny? she said that it was my fault to take all her cds and now she can't show me what I'm supposed to do... she was the one that gave me all the information yesterday... so I gotta meet with her again tomorrow to give her the cds back... **oh dear** this is not good... she can't get things right... I think this is gonna be a tough one...

OH! and in addition to cutting my price, she wanted me to extra stuff... breathe Jane... *sigh*

awwww... sounds like she's taking advantage of you. it's tough though as a "newbie", i know...

hmmmm. well, i think you should set some guidelines. if she crosses the line, then that's it... but i guess it's OK to be a little lenient at the beginning...

    good luck!!!

Oh sh*t! You know...clients are never happy, not even if you them free work. Especially Chinese clients. haha. I think they find it to their advantage to criticize as much as they can, to make you do more for them until they are given all the design options in front of their face. I know you're trying to make $, get some clients under your belt, but hopefully you will set a limit to how much abuse you should take from a client. You guys are just starting out so hopefully she'll become more reasonable along the way. But I think she's just doing the usual tactic of sh*tting on the work until you're doing whatever she wants just so you can finish up with her. And you know you can always back out of the project if things become too disgusting to bear.

Clients are clients, they will never be really nice to you.  A lot of the people here in AnD work with clients daily, including me.  u just hv to get used to it and get good at negotiating.  Did she really BLAME you or it's just you felt that she was blaming you?  I think instead of arguing with her abt what has happened, you should just agree with her and propose a more reliable way to communicate.

Since you're still brand new in this industry, maybe u should consider lowering ur price to get more connections first.  u make ur current clients happy, and then u'll build ur network and credit to get more business and charge higher.  In the long run, it may be better for u.

tell her the discount doesn't include the extras.

I think you need to value yourself more, I know you need clients but you don't want a client base that is based on selling yourself short.

    You deserve better.

Maybe you can offer her some after-service/ other "bonus" to go with the website instead of cutting prices, if you think your design worth that amount of money.
