Went back for my 3-month follow-up exam for the Lasek performed on my eyes.

My vision has improved from July's 20/20 Right - 20/30 Left to better than 20/20 in both eyes. It's still hard to believe!

And I haven't been missing the cleaning and disinfecting and the waking up blind thing at all. haha. Not one bit.

I didn't want to say this but I wish I hadn't waited so long. But...better late than never. Plus, it's cheaper and safer now than ever before...

Now the next thing to look forward to are reading glasses which the Docs are predicting will come about within the next decade (if it's not exacerbated by extensive computer use or reading).

I want to have Lasik surgery too, but I'm afraid of any side-effect , such as dry eyes, some patients even develop long-sight, right? But does it hurt?

Nice that you're getting such positive results. My aunt had LASIK, but it didn't work out so well for her, as she still has to wear contacts.

I called a local doc for an appointment - he did my cousin's Lasik and is considered the best around (he also uses the IntraLase instead of the "blade"). My concern is how long does it last? My vision's pretty stabilized, but if I got ten years out of this surgery, I'd be pretty happy. And even if I need reading glasses, I'd still be pretty thrilled to be able to see distances w/o specs. Maybe they can correct both at the same time. I'll find out.

Girl, I can't wait to do Lasek. I have a sneaking suspicion that my contacts are the source of some slight irritation in me which causes anxiety sometimes. Do you feel a lot better in general?

That's great. I've been considering Lasik and plan to talk to my eye doctor about it the next time I see him. The only thing that I'm concerned about is the fact that I have a real issue with putting things in my eyes. Even drops wig me out. I've seen them do it on TV where they clamp your eyes open and I don't know if I can take it. I read your blogs on your procedure and you had the one where they didn't have to peel back the top layer no? How conscious were you during the procedure? Did the Valium really work to calm you?

Dude there's a 30 eye sight? *flabber gasted*

I need lasik...my eyes are soo bad I sit in the front row and I still can't see properly what the teacher is writing on the overhead projector. :p

Lasik does sound good... I saw someone in my office get it but she had these freaky red spots on her eyes for a week... kinda scared me..hahah....

Wow, glad to hear your vision has improved. How was the Lasik surgery.... did it hurt? What was the recovery period like?

Sorry to be asking so much questions. I was thinking about getting it a couple years ago but chickened out. :)

I've been waiting too. I've been wearing glasses since I was 13. I'd be so happy to lose them. Maybe I'll finally look into it. I never could wear contacts because of allergies.
