Well for this semester. This early on, I had a special visit from someone, he asked me what my goal was this semester or this year...??? I don't remember exactly. I didn't tell him, in fact I absolutely declined to answer irritatingly. Reason is because I thought, "Man this would sound stupid if I even said it" so I said nothing to him. Left him hanging there wondering about me....ha..sorry babe!
But umm..now come to think of it, many people do have the same problem as I do. It's a communication problem. Yeah...see now why I didn't tell him what my goal was...It's a communication problem..lol....hint hint....
But my goal was to brush up on my speaking skills. Who the heck knew I'd achieve it. Seriously, didn't think that would happen at all. I was too shy. Get me up in front of tons of people, I'm like a deer caught in head lights. haha well not literally. Just when my mind goes blank at the wrong times....
So I had my first solo oral presentation today. In fact I've done several presentations already but with my group members for that class. Today when I was just sitting there, I was shaking literally. Then I got up and it all went away. Went smoothly even though I didn't do as much research as I should have, but clearly it went really well. Even I was amazed that I knew what i was talking about. Of all the times presenting in front of them with my group members I was afraid that what I was saying never made any sence to any one. Like was I even coherent at all?? Seriously I'd finish and go sit and ask myself, "what the heck was that?" lol that's not really ideal. Hey if they didn't understand it, it was on powerpoint anyways. So they can still read.
My goal has been achieved!!! Party!! Well okay, not yet. Least until I get my accounting test over and done with tomorrow. haha so I gotta study!
1 project done, another almost done, and another one to work on tomorrow. *sigh* Darn...forgot about my AnD paper too..I'm so screwed!!!
Well done on the solo presentation, I'm too nervous, I go shy around more then four people. It must be a big confidence boost to you, to know that the presentation went well.
congrats!! I don't have problems w/ presentations 'coz we always have them since grade school til college.
but, I guess my problem will be on the "social" communication skills. I don't talk much when I met someone I'm not close to or someone I just met, that's maybe the reason why I'm always labeled as a snob or unfriendly. Lol.
well, for my part, I don't feel like talking unless I feel comfortable w/ that certain person.
Good going on today's presentation. haha, I always worry I'm not going to make sense either. I guess that's where practicing plays an important part. Problems really arise when I think about what I'm doing, like noticing I'm speaking to a crowd of people who are all looking at me. Yikes. ;D
the key to good presentations is knowing what you are talking about (sounds obvious I know) and eye contact - but not the staring intensely at people kind ;p
I'm glad it went well, congratulations and good luck for tomorrow.!
hey, you're not alone... most of the time, if not all times, when I give a presentation, I never know what I'm talking about... when I'm done, I try to recall what I said but I can't seem to recall a thing... is like my mouth is physically moving, but my mind is somewhere else... =(
Congrats on your presentation.... Good Luck on your exam tomorrow... =)
I'm probably the worst person you can start a convo with out of the blue..ha, but anyways more about me? I write cartoon scripts, lyrics, design clothing, collect weaponary(swords and the likes). Anything else, just ask. I probably wont bite too hard :)
