    Gag me...lol tonight I have to call in to see if my dad has jury duty then call back home. Then on Dec 2nd I have to call in and see if I have to go..lol...son of..a..... It's on a Monday and that's when I have my important classes...not good...from all the times I've been called, they've all been cancelled. Lol last year was Dec 28..lol who in the world would actually go?? But...aggg..I hope mine gets cancelled.

     

    if I do have to go, how do I get my self out of it??? Anyone? Tips?

    you don't have to go if you're still in school. i use that excuse all the time before. :)

    I think you can get out of it if you're a student. I got called for jury duty a couple of years ago and it was such a waste of my time. I sat there all day doing nothing. I read the entire LA Times. Bring a book or your laptop with you if you get called.

    You can excuse yourself when you're a student.  You just have to defer but they will probably snag you as soon as you graduate.  If timing works and you can go, it's best to just get it over with.  You may get lucky and be sent home after 2 days.

    unfortunately, i can't say how to get out of it.  not just going in to the court room and saying "i hate mexicans"  or something like that.  i mean along the lines of having a valid excuse to never get called again.  on this side, you need to have valid medical excuses or show of extreme hardship that you absolutely can't get there.

    the best you can do is delay it and put in dates that are more acceptable.  i would usually pick early or late summer when i'm not vacationing or taking classes... don't know if they changed that system or not tho...

    just say that u hate gays.
    they don't let ppl who discriminate have jury duties.

    I think it's the law that you show up isnt it?
    I had to cancel mine and someone made a fake latter saying that I am going to jail for it or something like that ha ha ha

    Didn't a  student  have to spend a weekend in jail last year for skipping it. he probably did not inform them, I'm sure by informing them, students are entitiled to be excused.

    Yeah in Australia you can be exempted from duty duties if you're a student, not too sure about states.

    I thought if you were a student, you could excuse yourself. I think that's a perfectly legitimate and great reason. Did you read the back of your form? My jury duty summons always has that as one of the reasons to be excused.

    Anyway, if you don't, you should write in a letter before the summons date (!) to state that you are a college student and can't miss classes. That should do it.

    argh that sucks... the past times I was always called to report mid-week... =( but then I'd only be there for half the day and then dismissed so I never got interviewed before... *phew*  I hope others got some good tips for you... ;) I'll be back to take some notes... hehee...
