So I watched "Bride Wars" last week. It was a disappointing romantic comedy, but still cute. I watched it because I like Anne Hathaway. Anyways, there are two brides (who are also best friends) that are fighting to have their wedding at a particular day in June at the Palace hotel. When one of the brides find out the other one was shopping for her save the date cards, she immediately sends a mass save the date emails to all their friends. Guess what I received two days ago? A save the date email. My roommate from my internship in DC from almost four years ago is getting married in March. I was shocked. I haven't spoken to her since 2005 and then out of nowhere I get this email. I was more shocked when she asked for recommendations for wedding photography, invitation ideas, and other essential wedding stuff. I was thinking...girl you're wedding is in less than two months. You're planning now? No she's not pregnant. Apparently her mom said there was only two good days this year on the lunar calendar to get married. First one is in March and the second was in September. If it was me I would've waited for the September date or next year. I still can't be believe she sent a save the date email. I'm sure that saved her a lot of money but she could've at least do it on Evite or something. It was just a plain email. I know it's not my wedding or anything and I shouldn't be so critical of how she is planning hers, but...two months? Email save the date? Thank god she's not a close friend and I'm not a part of the wedding party because I would really have to give her a piece of my mind.

I've been hearing a lot about 'Bride Wars', sounded quite interesting.
That's not an awful lot of time to plan for anyone, the bride herself or indeed the guests, I'd of gone for September too.

woah, at that point she should just cut her losses and go for a small wedding w/ a few friends and relatives...

2 months huh? Either it's gonna be a "real" simple ceremony or she's gonna be running around the entire time even during the wedding to get things done perfectly.

I'd hate to be her. I'd go with Sept too! At least make an effort to plan better.

It'll be a challenge to do everything so quickly. I hope she has help. A similar thing happened to me. My Mom looked at the Chinese calendar at the beginning of the year and realized that the year of the horse was coming and not auspicious cause it sounds like the word blind in Chinese so we had to quickly scramble to get married before CNY. That's why I got married in Vegas. I'm actually glad in retrospect cause I never wanted a big to do.

yea, sounds like a rush for them... we're already half way through January... March is literally just around the corner... esp. since Feb. is a short month... *eek*

I think she's got the right idea. Do what you can in two months and don't get crazy about it. Weddings are ridiculous extravaganzas these days anyway. I think people should wait to throw the reception and receive gifts until after they're married five years. I just made that up but really, it'd be fairer to the rest of us.

I would've waited for Sept too. Gives me more time to get all that planning done. Is she planning to have a full-blown affair with church and banquet? With 2 months, I guess she'll get her dress off the rack, rent a cheong sam.

Super straight forward and blunt. I'm the friend that tells you that you look like sh*t at the end of a long day at work (and then I help you fix your hair). I can be pretty intimidating, but everyone around me knows that I'm one of the nicest people they'll ever meet. I can talk to anyone, anywhere, on just about anything that comes to my mind at the moment. I'm a Cancer so I can get along with practically anyone. At this moment in life, I can say that the smartest decision I ever made was to study abroad in Hong Kong, where all I did was shop, eat, party, and travel for a year (but don't tell my parents that). I'm super addicted to girly books (I love Sophie Kinsella) and was recently tricked into reading my first romance novel(it's like porn on books). I truly believe that I am destined to be a photographer, food critic, or an event planner, but somehow landed in banking and finance. I'm an impulsive shopper (last year I bought a PSP and now it's just sitting on my book shelf). I have a passion for food and I love trying new restaurants. I once told a friend "if we weren't working together we would never be friends because you can't eat garlic." My friends appreciate food. For some odd reason (I still haven't figured out what) I have the shortest attention span when it comes to the guys I date. I can be staring at my cell phone when it rings, but I'll never pick it up. I'm addicted to buying Chinese DVDs. I'm allergic to lychee, but I eat it anyways. I can't stand pretentious people, I rather respect you for your b*tchy a**hole selves. I learned how to read and speak Mandarin by watching tv. I once told a Congressmen to get off my seat at a conference in capitol hill. I'm not on facebook.
