I was digging thru some stuff today and I came upon this dvd that I burned... it was a dvd with clips from last year's film festival... Andy Lau came to the film festival to promote his movie, All About Love... And during the Q&A session, someone asked Andy Lau what he thought about the Hollywood version of Infernal Affairs... but it was odd, at that time The Departed wasn't even released yet... they were still filming... so what was there to compare?

so anyway... when I first watched Infernal Affairs (IA), I loved it; as many of my friends did... it created quite a hype... then they released part 2 and 3... I wasn't too thrilled about it... but surprisingly, 2 and 3 was exciting in its unique way, but still my favorite is the first one of course... Have you seen all three as well? if so, what did you think about it?

so with all my friends on the IA hype, we were all pretty anxious to see The Departed... we wanted to see how it was being remade through the american eyes... (OH! just a side note... I still remember the first day I saw the billboard for The Departed... I was so excited that I took a pic of it... hahaa... ) so anyway... we went to watch it in the theatre... For the most part I guess the remade was okay.... BUT up till the end, it was completely ruined in the ending... completely ruined... I mean, people were laughing in the theatre at the end... it kinda sucks b/c the HK version wrapped up the story better... but the hollywood version was so far off that it became a joke... if you saw it, what did you think about it? Do you think it was well remade or not?

Which do you like better,

I think I'm gonna find some free time to re-watch all three parts of IA...

I haven't seen "The Departed". Not a big fan of Hollywood remakes, so didn't really care to. Have watched all three "Infernal Affairs", though. Loved the first. Didn't like the second, except that it featured Edison and Shawn. Haha. The third wasn't bad.

i luv IA. tony and andy had lots of chemistry together. the 1st film of them together since duke of mount deer (i think). but i havent watch IA 2 & 3 yet. i also havent watched departed too. my former (non-chinese) coworker saw departed and he liked it. but he never knew it was a remake and i told him to watch IA. so he rented it and said it was indeed better than the departed.

I saw IA 1 and 2. Never got around to 3. I refused to watch The Departed because I heard about how they made it really violent and had Chinese bad guys. That's kind of insulting considering the source material. It also pissed me off when they were talking about IA during the Oscars and they said the film was from Japan. I really wish Hollywood would just stop remaking good Asian films and just screen the originals.

i have seen some of the Infernal Affairs and none of The Departed. but I heard that the latter movie is much bloody.

i haven't seen "the departed"... but "IA" was AWESOME!!!! hahaha... i've got all 3!

I dislike The Departed, but that's because they changed too much and went overboard Hollywood style, infact I've only just seen it at my friends, because I refused to support it at the cinema!!

I love IA, all the way. The third not so much, but it's a fantastic trilogy, and of course Beyond's song from the second is a favourite:)

I think I'd prefer IA bc it was the original and seemed better. D seemed to add other stuff bc of all the actors they hired. haha. The ending of D made the story totally different.

i haven't seen infernal affairs yet, but i was planning to watch it a couple of times... i saw the departed.. not very catchy..i think..

I watched all 3, and loved the first Infernal Affairs the best. (It's overall one of my favorites!) Would love to watch it again at some point.

As for the Departed, I watched it, and liked the original IA a lot more. It's hard to beat the original sometimes... (I forgot how it ended in the Departed though)

I have only seen the first Infernal Affairs and I loved it - it was great. I haven't seen 2 and 3 yet, but they are on my list.

I didn't really plan to see the Departed, I prefer originals >_~
