UPDATE: the last two nights I've had nightmares... one involving murder and the other involving a gang shootout right outside my house... freaky... but I was just curious what that interprets... and look what it says:

    Crime
To dream that you or someone commits a crime, represents feelings of guilt and shame. Your inner fears are hindering your growth and progress.
    Shooting
To see a shooting in your dream, indicates that you have a set goal and know what you are aiming for in life. Your plans are right on target!

how interesting, indeed... so I guess I'm okay? hahaa...

I would like to say sorry about the post I did on my conversation with my uncle... I didn't mean to "bash" my uncle... I know he cares about me... but I guess I was having a bad day and that conversation didn't make it any better... so I'd like to say sorry... but Thank You to everyone who left a comment on my entry... But I have been thinking about what I would like to do in the near future... and its not that easy... there's so many things I want to do... but just not sure how to go about doing it...

I would say that I've been rather lucky thru-out my years in school b/c I was able to find something that I had interest in and would like to do as a job... and I'd have to say that my two years at SF State definitely opened my eyes to the world of design... I remember transferring to SF State to study web design only... but actually there was no such major... so I got into Industrial Design which includes all sorts of design: product, multimedia, print, and graphic... I had to meet with the counselor in that department and sign a contract with the department listing out the classes that I will be taking... and the contract cannot be changed the semester before graduation... sounds pretty intense... (and actually we were the only department that required a contract) the list of classes seemed endless... thru-out the two years there, I think I only changed the contract once... it was to add a few more classes... crazy, I know... hahaa... after taking a few classes, I wanted to explore even more... and I'm glad I did...

the first class I took was a general design course, so it included a multimedia presentation, a product design (which I designed the cardboard stool), and graphic design (where I designed a restaurant menu)... I was really excited and anxious to see what other courses were about... (yea, it's easier for me to say that now... I dreaded some classes, but the overall experience was good...)

anyway... I would have to say there were two classes that opened my eyes to the world of design... one was a typography class where I actually designed and put-together a 120-page book; and the other one was the exhibit class... I totally loved the exhibit class (minus some of the annoying people in the class); it was a "real class"... the class was split up into 3 groups (product people, graphic people, and logistics people) and we actually had a budget to follow by... (every expense was accounted for, so if we messed up, we'd have to pay for it...) I was on the graphic group along with two friends... the most exciting thing was that the concept I pitched in for the overall design of our exhibit was selected!!! oh, it was such a feeling of success... and I also designed the brochure... the feeling was so real and awesome when you see people holding your design in their hands... check out my photo album to see more of the exhibit... it was really awesome to see how everything was built from scratch... it was amazing team work despite many arguments in the class...

another thing I found interest in was actually film editing... I took a multimedia course at City College and for our final project we had to edit a short clip put together with music... it was quite an experience... so I took the footages from our middle school reunion and put together a "montage".  it took a long long time to do... cause I really chopped up the footages... you can see that by noticing the time on the screen... hahaa... check out the short clip I edited (using FinalCut Pro)... the hardest part was actually syncing the voice with the picture... so I only did minimal amounts of it... hahaa... but overall, I loved how it turned out... loved the photo-transition at the end.. hehee...

and this is a very short one that I did at SF State using Adobe AfterEffects...

so yea... I'm rather overwhelmed with the world of design... I have so many things to take a stab at... but most definitely, I want to give a stab at print design, exhibit design, and may be some film editing... hahaa... but ahh... print design gives me a feeling of excitement and reality b/c it's something I can hold in my hands and/or to share with family and friends...   uh oh... am I just blabbing now? okie.... I'd better stop...

When junior year rolled around, I had actually thought about going into Design and Industry, as web design and film editing were things I got interested in. It didn't seem like they had many courses tailored to these areas, though, so I didn't pursue it. Plus I didn't want to waste my time (and money) switching majors since I wasn't sure what I really wanted to do. Definitely sounds like you found your niche, though, and have the drive to succeed in whatever you do. Can't wait for you to get your foot in the door. =)

"blabbing" about it just means you've got passion for it. good stuff =)

and i hope you don't get any more nightmares... regardless of what they mean, it's so "stressful"/ "freakY" when you're actually experiencing it. =/

The music is very fitting for the first piece.  It's great that you will be getting to do something that you are both passionate and inspired by.  There is so much that you can get into with design, there's really no reason to limit yourself.

hmm I actually designed my own nightclub from the inside...pretty cool..but then I don't know if it'll actually work since it seemed like there was so much more space allocated to the stage then there is for the audience..lol haha

Designing is one good way of relaxing next to music. Specialness and the uniqueness...always gotta enjoy that!

the world of design seems endless, and it can be, you don't have to limit yourself to just one part of it, the more you expand on it, the more successful you can be in it, keep learning about the world of design as i am sure you will, the sky is the limit, you imagination will take you a lot further than you can imagine, there is a very thin line between dreams and reality its just a matter of how far you are willing to go to cross it, good luck.... take it easy

I like the second clip and the thought behind it too. The first one is very sweet and comes with the perfect song choice. I think it's great that you know what you want in life, design is a very interesting and wide subject, the classes looked excellent. Best of Luck with going for what you want, I'm sure your dedication and passion will pay off.

And I understand about your uncle, sometimes the people who love us most, also tend to be the ones who nag us too!!
