My big toe's nail is finally back to normal.
I was in Guangzhou back in late-August of 2006. I had just made an urgent dash from the hotel to the bus station across the street early one morning. As I hauled my heavy suitcase up the steps to the ticket office, I set it down but my right toe got in the way. Lucky for me, I had on sneakers which probably saved me from cracking the nail in half, causing a bloody mess.
Ever since that day of the trauma, the nail started growing with a horizontal ridge that started at the cuticle. I also had this big black bruise underneath the nail.
Did you know that fingernails are a good indicator of a person's health? They become discolored or deformed when we lack or have too much of a particular vitamin or nutrient or if our bodies are suffering a certain ailment. They react to the environmental conditions and mental or physical stress. This is rather interesting and I urge you to read about fingernails and nutrition (see informative link here).
After just over 12 months, the nail has grown so that the horizontal ridge has (finally) reached the nail's tip. It's just about been trimmed off entirely and my right, big toe nail is back to its original smoothness. It's still discolored, however, due to being asphyxiated by nail polish.
