Today, I was reading this part in my book "In the Company of a Courtesan" where the servant is trying to sell off a prized book that features a lock. Nobody recalls the combination until the pawnbroker was able to figure it out.
This incident reminded me of a time I couldn't remember the combination number to the lock on a Samsonite suitcase I was planning to use for a trip. The husband was traveling and I was to meet him in Hong Kong. And I really needed to use this particular suitcase. I thought I could solve the problem and so I resorted to trying to open the lock by starting at 000. Isn't that just awful?
I finally managed to figure out the combination and unlock the lock (the suitcase was already and always open, mind you). The number was in the hundreds. My thumb and index finger were aching after trying out so many combinations, one by one. You know....001, 002, 003 and so on.
Too comical. Can't rely on this foggy memory of mine. Even right now, I can't recall the correct combination! haha.
