Hey guys! okay well nothing interesting here to baffle about men...lol not today..if I get another topic, you'll see it! hehe

But well my current situation is about frats/soriorities for Accounting here at Fresno State. I don't know whether or not I should join...Funds......lets just say...I'm not really able to make that type of a contribution. (Time and dues are too much) But I would like to know if it's really necessary to be in a frat/soriority.

My old time best accting teacher which is the head of the IMA organization, says I should join during my Junior year, and it is my junior yr. Only because big companies/organizations are doing interviews/recruitments now for people in their junior yr. Used to be during the Senior yr, but now it's changed. So as of now I feel forced to join.

The thing is, I don't want to be stuck in Fresno all my life, I mean, dude...there's nothing to do here and I'm bored sh*tless.... All of these co.s/organizations are for Fresno. I'm not sure what to do, I feel like I'm stuck with the right way or the wrong way which is never landing myself a job.

Really I'd love to be in a BIG city, all my life it's well...ghost towns or little cities with mean people. U don't know how boring it is.  Especially when the people around you are all ignorant in these towns.  It's not just me who says this, my big sister knows this very clearly. There's a big difference between where she lives and where I live.

What would be great is that I get my internship during my last yr, and they'll hire me. What would be even better is that they need to relocate someone (Me) to LA or San Fran...preferrably LA,   hint hint....I've family there

What even scares me the most is that everyone of the accountant students from my school tends to stay in Fresno. Approximately 89% of them, or they'll return to Fresno.

Maybe I'm worrying too much....*sigh, clears mind*

Is it really that hard to find a job after college?

I don't think it's that hard to find a job after college but I think it will probably take some time to find out what you really like and then to find the perfect job for you. That just takes some time. BTW, I realize my new headshot reminds me of yours with the hat. Didn't mean to copy (:

can't help with the frat/soritiy thing sorry, don't have them here.  Its been said by lots but you shouldn't have trouble finding work.   I know it is easy to sometimes worry about things like this but have some faith in yourself =), you'll get a job where you want (LA) if you plan for it.

I'm not sure about the frat/sorority thing... never been in one.

Like what many already mentioned, getting an internship is a good way to get your foot in the door.  Also, I don't think it should be a problem getting a job so try not to worry about it too much. :)

Well, we don't have those over here so I can't really give an opinion. If you do, join a fun one, not a "follow all the rules" one. You'll enjoy it much more. And I agree with you about getting out of there. That's why I'm heading to Asia. People ask my why - my answer is "I've been here 21 years (although it'll actually be 22), I want to go somewhere else."

technically joining a sorority isn't a must.  but joining these organizations can help with the hob-knobbing later down the line.  i think this is probably more true in busines, legal, political circles.  less so in technical fields.
wouldn't hurt to at least rush.  get a couple good parties in :-P

You shouldn't feel obligated to join a frat/sorority.  I agree with Peachey that a pt job or internship would be the way to go to get yourself immersed in the industry and network.  I would think you wouldn't have too much a problem finding a job in Accounting anywhere though.

yeah, forget about frat/sorority, you don't want to be committed all your life with them, do you?
better work hard on your future & try to experience how it really is in the real world. Good Luck!

Forget about joining a frat/sorority. Get pt or internship positions to get real-world experience, like making coffee or answering phones.haha. j/k about that. Get some work experience instead, is my suggestions.

If you want to look for a job in the bigger markets, you'd have to  apply there. Not likely they'd relocate you. I think Acctg majors are in demand in most cities, big and small, so you won't have a prob finding a job.

I think it's not that hard to find a job in accounting. Just start looking for jobs at the beginning of your senior year and there's a good chance you'll get a job before you graduate. I think you could find a job in L.A. even though you're in Fresno

Look for internships or some kind of job while you're in school, it will make it easier when you graduate to have additional experience.  I worked even starting freshmen year from the library to the credit union on campus by Senior year.  They weren't my ideal jobs but it was at least something that eployers liked to see after I was out of school.

hmm... I think the job finding varies for each major... right now for me... I'm not really looking for a job b/c I'm gonna be in HK for like 5 weeks at the end of the year... so that's why I'm not looking for a job... but other people who I have talked to in my major is still trying to find "the" graphic design job... *shrugs* I think it won't be hard to find a job after college if you work hard enough to find it... =)

don't worry too much about it... =D
