    A really Big Problem.

I don't know what it means to flirt. What exactly does flirting mean, by words from another? A compliment of some sort?

I'm talking with my friend on myspace and he said that was flirting.  "Ok, so far i've learned that you enjoy dangerous weapons and also like to whip people. Sounds scary but intriguing at the sametime "  I look at it and go "huh, that's flirting?" That's more of a joke to me then a flirt.

lol no I do not like whipping people...I don't have a whip either nor do I know how to...

I have people on the shoutbox saying that I flirt alot. Really? Because I dont' know that I'm doing it. I have no intentions of flirting with anyone unless it's Archie Kao...lol j/k.

I really have a problem.... Please clarify what this "flirting" means, or how it's done. Or how I'm even doing it. Cuz I don't want to give people the wrong impression. I'm just joking around to have fun with no intentions of anything.

Or do people always flirt but with no intentions of anything? Boy I'm confused!!!

Anyone up for setting this lady straight?

Heck, I don't think I even flirt when I'm around someone I like..haha this is interesting...

Most of you think I'm kidding. I know of someone who can vouche for me..not sure if he's up to it though. But, really...I don't know when or how I'm flirting. Or what flirting really is.

    Okie...I think I did it again...crap!

The above here in the post, I'm not just referring to Online. Actually it's referring more to in person then vice versa.

As I told musicnote, before my presentation on thursday for the evil lady in marketing. We waited outside the hall cuz there's another class still in session.

I told the guy in my group that he may need to poke me. Just in case I don't talk when it's my turn or that I freeze or whatever it may be. (of course I failed to mention that part) But somehow it came across to him that my, "you may need to poke me" seemed like I was flirting with him. He then looked at me with those eyes of his...looks like he was confused or either he thought I was flirting with him. He smiled and dude..ya...hahaha...crap...I did this with R too. I'm more likely to flirt with R compared to S.... but still none are  my type. And S is with gf...plus dude...he's so skinny, he makes me feel fat! *sigh* EAT MR!!! oh boy....

I think it's just how people perceive actions/words that may be considered "flirting" to them.

I think there is a fine line between being friendly and flirting - but there is a chasm between flirting and coming onto someone.

I'm not sure you should be so concerned if someone thinks you're flirtng or not - just make sure they don't think you're coming onto them or "leading them on" as advance-rejected people tend to say.

If you're just talking with someone and being silly or casual and they think you're flirting - that could just be their perception of the situation and hopefully by now you've learned there's not a great deal you can do when people want to believe something.  If you wink or intentionally bring the conversation towards a sexual subject or make innuendos or touch them casually - like a casual hand on the knee when trying to get their attention a a point in a story or while laughing - then your flirting (obviously the touching doesn't apply online) and you should be aware of it.

hmm... i still wonder about this question... but I think I agree with what everyone has said so far about flirting... it really depends on how a person perceives it... everyone will have a different meaning of flirting... we have a different extent on how we interact with other people...

I would say a good 90% of the time you would know whether you are flirting or not if you are actually interacting with someone face to face. It's hard to tell though if you're online, because people can interpret what you're typing whatever way they feel like because they can't see you.

    good question
I don't really know, I like to laugh and joke - is that flirting?

I agree with Peachey's take on things, especially the bit about many guys (and I guess girls can do it too) who read what they want into the situation - It's really obvious Tin WANTS you to be flirting with him so he will interpret just about anything you say or do as that.

tht's the thing with online 'type-munation' (combination of typing + communication). ppl don't see your expression. i strongly believe these responses you get was caused by not able to really talk/communicate with you face to face.

just be who you are, and tell them, you are not flirting. just joking. unless you want him to think you are flirting, keep on flirting! hahahah!

honestly, i myself am as confuse as you are in such situation. worst when i'm facing my crush. *yikes* but you live, you learn! (i love alanis morissette) *wink*

my respond: you are not flirting! :)

Some guys take it the way they want to perceive it (especially the inexperienced ones - ahem). Some people think bc you are receptive to the opposite sex, kid around with them, banter about with them, that that's flirting. It could be. It mightn't be.

Personally, from what I've read in the shoutbox, it doesn't seem like you're flirting. You're not coy. You don't say things to tease or goad someone forward. Tin's just trying to push your buttons (believe me! I know him a little enough to be confident in saying that).

Basically, it comes down to your intent. If you intend to behave amorously with someone, however subtle or blatant, then that's flirting. If you aren't intending to, then it's not flirting.

i find that flirting is a lot of things.  joking remarks, sexual innuendo, faux pseudo viloent masochistic comments :D

i think that what it comes down to is any comments that you can make to another person in which you are trying to elicit a response for the other person to look favorably at you.

    oh please, pongza!
you're a natural flirt!  i don't think it's necessarily just a way for people to impress others but at the same time, you gotta know how to utilize a bit of humor while you're flirting.  i've noticed you in the shoutbox.  you get really curtsy sometimes...  there's your little worm on the fishing rod right there.  that makes guys want to flirt with you more.

mark my words.  you're a natural flirt!

Oh, and if you say anything naughty, that's definitely flirting!

Haha, I think if you say something that is likely to impress anyone, it's considered flirting. In order to not flirt, I guess you just gotta be nasty and rude. I think that maybe if you're constantly impressing someone with your words, you're flirting. In face to face situations, you also gotta stand the right way too, but you don't need that requirement online.
